wordplay: (Gleee - Kurt & Blaine in sunglasses)
I've fallen back into writing fic, in a way I never quite have before. I believe it is customary to lament the fact that I can't produce like this for something original and marketable, but the truth is that (a) I'm not that good a writer, anyway; and (b) god, I'm having a great time. Eventually it will stop being as fun, and then I will stop doing it, and it won't be a big deal; hobbies are awesome like that. In the meantime, I will turn out perfectly fine fic about a terrible show with incredibly lovable characters, and it will make me happy.

I've spent the last five days pounding out 11k words of fic that won't see the light of day for weeks, and cutting and pasting snippets of kisses and making out into chat windows with [livejournal.com profile] misscake (who gets excited and happy, because she is awesome like that) and [livejournal.com profile] darthfox (who rolls her eyes because SHE DOES NOT EVEN KNOW THESE KIDS, and then corrects my verb tenses, because she is awesome like that), and sending multiple drafts to [livejournal.com profile] r_becca because I realized I screwed something up minutes after I sent her the last draft, no really, and obsessing over google maps to write fanfiction for a television show that doesn't even worry about silly little details like which year of school its main characters are in.

IT IS AWESOME.

Anyway. I won't bore you with the Kurt/Blaine stuff, because if you wanted to find that you would have by now, I'm pretty sure. :) But I never did post about my Yuletide fic, so here it is. Fandom is Almost Famous, genre is futurefic, rating is Teen (mostly because it's about grownups), word count is 1863. I had so much fun writing this, because thinking about the specific way William Miller would age into his bitterness is pretty great.
