I'm not ordinarily a fan of Weird Al, but I was doubly delighted to hear his
"White and Nerdy" version of "Ridin'". First because, you know, the dweebs are my people, yo. It's embarrassing how much I relate to that song. (Also, come on. "Fluent in javascript as well as Klingon" is a lyric just filled with glee. How do you not love that? It's just
wonderful.)
The other reason I'm so thrilled to hear that? Because the original song is Chamillionaire, one of Houston's mix tape rappers who's taken the
chopped and screwed sound of Houston to the rest of the world. I have a soft spot for Houston's rap community that I haven't talked about here very much, but that's the sound of it and I certainly didn't expect to see it all over LJ, so it's a delight when it is, even if the lyrics are changed. The lyrics of the original song are about how much the HPD sucks, and I certainly don't need reminding of that.

God, I love me some "Wife Swap". Bless them for putting the batshit piratical family on the night before "Talk Like A Pirate" day. But I have to say, "this is society, we don't get to make the rules, we just have to follow the rules" is a recipe for living really, really small. As I said to
tartpants, I feel incredibly healthy all of a sudden.
And there are
no words for how much I love that they are using the word "piratitude" in all seriousness. You know - I mean, our species does a lot of really screwed up stuff, but that the non-pirate family can use that word in all earnestness gives me reason for hope. I love us sometimes. ♥

Another person told me today that they were kind of intimidated by me. This continues to just blow me away, although my feelings are rather mixed. On the one hand, it's always been more important to me to be respected than to be liked, and maybe this is part of that? But I really don't feel scary and I'm not sure what I'm doing that's giving off THAT particular vibe. Y'all all know what a giant dork I am so I assume I'm not intimidating anybody here (quit laughing!), but if you've got anything to say to me about that, anonymous comments are always enabled (but screened to prevent people going nuts on my LJ). :D
