Last night I was watching the 95 P&P - it is, hands down, the DVD purchase that has paid for itself the easiest, as I watch it at least a few times a year - definite comfort viewing when I'm tired and just need something coz. We were still in the middle of Mr. Collins's initial visit when I flipped through the first prompts at [livejournal.com profile] summercon and somehow ended up signing up to drabble a Darcy/Elizabeth AU by tonight. And as much as I want it, I really don't think this is the time to whip out my Linguistics AU, the one where Darcy is an east coast formal syntactician and Lizzie is a west coast functionalist and Lizzie is (somehow) a recent hire in the department where Darcy is resident tyrant and OMG WACKINESS ENSUES! Because as much as that would thrill me to teensy little pieces, I think I'd pretty much be alone in that, and what's the point of writing silly AU drabbles for a community if you're going to have to giggle and squee by yourself?

So. If you've got ideas for cute/silly/clever P&P AUs, hit me. (Modern, please - I've no time for research today and good lord, it's a DRABBLE. Well, ish, anyway.)

Also, I am a little bummed because I really wanted to try curling club this year but I slipped just a little in the shower and felt a twinge in that ankle I sprained this summer and now I'm not sure how well it will hold up and, in general, how good an idea that is. Which, you know, really SUCKS because I can be so shy about these things and I'm pretty much over that with the curling thing and it sucks that, because I can't manage to actually watch where I'm walking, I might end up having to opt out. I think I'll still try, ankle braced and wrapped and all that, but what a pain. I just want ankle twinginess to go away and for it to be really over. *glares at still-slightly-puffy ankle*

I meant to do this earlier and forgot: Congratulations to Owen Pallett on winning the Polaris Music Prize Monday night. It's a great record, and there are two free downloads here. To hear some of the other short listed artists for the Polaris, download CBC Radio 3's podcast from this weekend. Great hour of radio there and the Sarah Harmer record is really nice - she does great music to work by and "Silver Road" has been in my "work work work" playlist for a while.

In other news - I am both braindead and really busy, which is not a great combination. What made me think I'd be capable of doing any writing at all this week? *frets* Have I mentioned that, in addition to having some random school event or another ever night this week, my mom comes into town on Friday and A's 4th birthday party is on Sunday? I haven't even ordered her birthday cake yet. *winces*
