Music downloads for a Friday morning
Oct. 27th, 2006 04:43 amUrgh. Tomorrow morning is really going to suck, but what a great show tonight. I swear, Ty, Doris and Nate just get cuter. *loves*
Because I love you so, and because it is Friday, music downloads. These are all YSI links.
Opening act was We're About 9, who were v. cute. I can see why these two (well, six. whatever.) are playing dates together - they certainly appeal to the same audience. They had some wonderful things, but a favorite of mine from last night (and certainly appropriate for LJ) was Writing Again:
I wanted to thank you for giving me something to be all bitter about
It's good to be writing again
Ah, yes. Thank god for bitterness. Or, um, something.
Two Girlyman bootlegs of dubious quality, the two closers tonight, neither of which is currently on a release: Joyful Sign and Son of a Preacher Man. The second one is the extended "blessed" version they do, which is lovely. I can't wait for the new album - some really lovely tracks going to be on that thing, yeah? Watch
girlyfans for more bootlegs and release information.
Finally, a truly excellent morning song: Smile All the While by Panurge. The percussion and bass lines are just unrelenting. There's a spot in this where the melody goes spare and for just a second it reminds me of (a) the drum lines in "Lose My Breath" by Destiny's Child and (b) a whole, whole lot of fall Friday nights. Panurge is pretty derivative (but AWFULLY fun) electrofolk pop from Vancouver, so when they made me think of the Ocean of Soul's drum line - hell yeah, I paid attention.
