Man, has this week been busy! Bullets, then.

+ Work has gone into fairly complete meltdown mode. ( Read more... )

+ New yoga class on Friday. Felt good, yay.

+ Went to the orchard with omphale23, qe2 and sansets today. (Which was great, food extravaganza aside, because they are lovely to a one.) Came home with a really big bag of baking apples, 2 paper bags of eating apples (got some of the last of the Honeycrisp woo-hoo!), 12 ears of corn and 2 small sugar pumpkins, plus honey and some other little stuff. I've blanched the corn and it's cooling before it goes into the freezer and I'm currently simmering butternut squash from this week's farm bag for soup. Tomorrow I'll do the roast/scoop/puree/freeze deal for the pumpkins and start on the apples. I love this time of year! Late summer/early autumn has the best foods!

+ Annnnnd, while we were at lunch my parents called, and my mother is flying in two days early for A's Birthday Extravaganza Week (vol. 6) which means I have to pick her up at the airport tonight. Apparently, one week without power is her limit and she just sort of snapped. I've moved an extra fan into the guest room and she will sleep cool tonight.


Honestly, it's really mostly work that's been making me miserable, and it's just sucking up way too much energy right now. *hates on it* Also, I finished knitting a hat for O and I under-estimated the depth of his noggin and misscaled the pattern. I've started over and am about half done on take two. Yay. The stupid hat is kind of a metaphor for my state of mind right now - I feel like my intentions are v. good but I am flailing around and ending up with v. poor execution.

Oh! Also started the new Neal Stephenson book. As usual, it takes a while to really get into but once you do, it's wonderful.

OK, off to deal with soup and airport transport! *blows kisses*
