So we have a title for HP Book 7. I have no reaction - I guess I'm not a title person? I'm much more interested in the date of release, because I want to start planning the Best Damned Book Release Cocktail Party EVAR!!! (Working title: TBDBRCPE!!! - clearly there's a reason I'm not invested overmuch in titles.)

I've been listening to a lot of radio lately. I love radio, but I listen to a lot more in the winter. There's just something v. cozy about sitting in my dark office or my warm kitchen, working on something with the radio to keep me company. And there's so much GOOD content being podcast now - podcasting could seriously be the best thing to ever happen to talk radio, I think. And what it's done for science writing is amazing - there are such stories to be told about the sciences, and here they can be told right. Things I've especially enjoyed lately:

+ That series on how available technologies have shaped the arts finished up with a segment about candles and French opera. It's available here, and the first two segments are linked here.

+ This is the weirdest radio interview I've heard in a while, courtesy of CBC's "As It Happens". Either Carol Off or Barbara Budd interviewed Evil Knievel about his lawsuit against Kanye West (I know, right?) and WOW is Mr. Knievel an ass to her! There's this weird moment where he almost says that his big problem is about interracial relationships and he doesn't want his name tied to unsavory things like that and it's just WEIRD. It's in the second half, so that's all you need to download if you want to hear it.

+ I really can't say enough good things about Radio Lab. There's an article about it here and the shows are here - the first season is streaming only but the second season is all dl'able in .mp3. I haven't listened to one yet that wasn't fascinating - and for SGA fans, the "Morality" show will likely remind you of the beginning of "The Game". Good science, well presented, about who we are and the universe we inhabit and how we learn and just, OH, it's all really wonderful. Go! Listen!

Happy solstice! I'm off in a minute to make round food for dinner - baguette crostini with olivada and chevre (dark and light, see?) and English muffin pizzas (yes, we have children) - and light a zillion candles and make peanut butter pine cone bird feeders with said children. Yay for winter and being cozy on a still, dark night.
