Made it out to do a little last minute shopping tonight, and it was actually really pleasant. It's cool and crisp out there but not particularly cold, and the Borders people were really friendly and helpful, and there was an ice sculptor! I love Christmas, I really do, especially so when I'm not making myself insane. I popped out to Borders because O. is binging on the Magic Treehouse books right now - he read three last night - and we have flights in our future, so I needed to feed his habit.

Speaking of reading - we have a new routine in our house that's going beautifully. Every Friday night, he's allowed to stay up as late as he wants to, but he has to stay in bed and read. It means he tends to sleep in a little on Saturday (thank goodness!) and he's really enjoying his reading time. It also makes him easier to put to bed the other six nights a week - if he complains about wanting more time to read, I just remind him he'll have all the time he wants on Friday.
