wordplay: (Work makes me go yay)

We have a group meeting tomorrow at work and there are going to be a lot of off-site researchers there that I haven't met before. I'm giving a brief talk and I am freaking out. I don't really have problems with public speaking - between teaching and talks and a whole lot of performance experience as a girl, I'm pretty much used to being in front of groups - but I don't feel at all confident about what I'm going to be covering tomorrow and this is my first impression on most of these people and have I mentioned that I've only been working on this for four weeks? Meep.

Anyway. *distracts self*

Is anybody else watching "Brothers & Sisters", and why does Calista Flockhart still look so weird to me when I keep hearing about how she's so beautiful? And how was the BBC "Robin Hood"? And is that Snow Patrol in the background of that commercial for the Marie Antoinette movie? La la la. *thinks of other things*

Huh, I've never thought of Calista as beautiful. Interesting-looking, maybe.

Good luck tomorrow! I'm sure you'll be great!

Thanks! It was fine.

And I still have crossed fingers for you, by the way. If I can make it through all of this adjustment, I know you can, too. It'll be good!

Good luck tomorrow! You'll do great.

Wasn't today a beautiful day? I was so happy with the weather that I took a brisk three mile walk. I'm enjoying all of the trees and small hills. It's funny how we notice the little things.

Thanks! And the last few days have been gorgeous, which is nice as it looks like we have a nice helping of not-so-gorgeous headed our way. Yay for sweaters and tights weather!

Got your Ginvite for the movie, which yay! Should we set it up as an HP DC Metro event? Might be a good chance for you to meet some of those people!

I think that would be a great idea! I hope I won't be busy with the hub that weekend (since he is set to come that week), but it if there seems to be a problem, he can just join us for the movie.

Ooh, good luck! ♥

And seriously, who says Calista Flockhart is beautiful? Huh. I'm not watching that show. Is it any good?

Thanks! I survived, yay!

I don't know, I just keep hearing about it. Whatever. Her face is sort of weird to me.

The show is fine. Good cast and interesting storyline, although I don't know how long it'll keep my interest beyond the initial conflicts that have been set up and seem to be resolving themselves in some form or another.

*squishes* You'll do great :D like you said - you have the experience of public speaking behind you - you know what you'll have to talk about (if not - note cards! slides?) - just try not to think about impressions and just be the professional you know you are - let us know how it goes :) *squishes again*

Thanks! It was a PowerPoint thingy, so mostly I just talked about my slides and ended up reading part of them, which isn't great but, you know, fine. I DID say "circumsized" instead of "circumscribed" at one point, but it was late in the day by then and we all needed the laugh, so it was fine. :))

Thanks! What was great was that nobody knew a whole lot more than I did, so that was good - that was the real concern there. :))

Oooh ... good luck. I hate public speaking, so that would be hell for me.

I've been watching Brothers and Sisters, mostly because of the cast. I've never been a Calista Flockhart fan. And I don't think she's beautiful. With so many truly beautiful actresses out there, she becomes just ordinary.

The show has my attention for now, I just wish Tom Skerritt was still on.

Thanks! It went fine - not great, but I knew it wouldn't go GREAT, but it was just fine.

And I got the links you sent, and thank you! I've been at work early and late for the meetings the last couple of days and haven't had time to sit down and play online, but that's definitely on my list and I can't wait to listen - I'll definitely let you know what I think!

Hmm, in the UK, 'Natural's Not In It' by Gang of Four and 'Ceremony' by New Order feature in the Marie Antoinette trailer that's playing in our cinemas. The one posted online features 'It's Age of Consent' by New Order.

Oh, if you're looking for historical accuracy, look elsewhere. Robin Hood was very contemporary in it's language, behaviour and even its look, but it was a lots of fun :) Keith Allen as the Sheriff steals every scene, though <3

I've only seen the ad once and need to go look at the trailer online to see if it's the same one. I just caught a few bars of the music and I know I know it from SOMEWHERE!

*nods* I think I may try to download it anyway - I am all about fun. :D
