Lost and Project Runway - spoilerswhoa

LOST: OMG the island touched me in the bad place and stole my unders! OMG, that's right, remember there was a polar bear on this show, like, two years ago?! OMG let's build sweat lodges! OMG we have space-time discontinuities and electromagnetic anomalies! OMG why do we CARE if Kate loves Sawyer?
What the fuck is this show about? Should I still be asking this question in the third season? Remember when that was the appeal, that we couldn't even tell what genre it was meant to be and the confusion was fun? Yeah, that's pretty much over - now I'm just crabby.
PROJECT RUNWAY: Aww, Jeffrey is all weepy. I really liked the pacing of the finale this season - the real draw of PR for me is watching these people who are so gifted and the passion of their work and ambition. The finale last year was so tense and just BUSY - there was so much work for them to do with the 13th look and I'm guessing that the editing down to two hours must have been a nightmare. I MUCH prefer watching them all starry-eyed at Bryant Park and focusing on the drama of the shows rather than the manufactured drama of another challenge. And besides that, how awesome was it to see Chloe and Danny V watching the shows? ♥
I swear to god, these woobies. Love 'em.
Oh, right, the clothes?
+ OK, I like Jeffrey's collection and LOVE LOVE LOVE the green stripe, because I am perverse that way.
+ Uli's stuff - I love the palette, but I have to say that I am not feeling the circa 1976 look and that closure that's, like, a clip over the boobs? See, I actually HAVE breasts, and that? Not a good look. I get what Michael Kors is saying about the colors, because if you look at that collection, it's like 6 neutral pieces and 6 pieces, each in a different color. But I kind of LIKE that about it.
+ Laura designed... a lot of cocktail dresses in black and nude. They're all great dresses - there wasn't a one that I didn't care for - but, like, why? I mean, I guess we shouldn't really be surprised that Laura appears to believe that you can construct an entire wardrobe out of black cocktail dresses, but... yeah.
+ Michael: WTF? This all looks v. Frederick's of Hollywood to me and, like, gross. Not so much with the big vinyl belts, ew.
So my winner? Jeffrey. I think his work is just really INTERESTING. I'm really, really glad the judges agreed with me. I know he was an absolute JACKASS on occasion, but talent carries a lot for me, and I just think he's the more talented. *shrug*
Good season.
Also? Angela and her whiny, passive-aggressive mother are somewhere pissed off. Pissed off and covered in fleurchons. :-P
TOP CHEF note: Marcel and Stephen: separated at birth, reunited in Las Vegas. Seriously, can't you see those bitches sitting around and dissing other chefs' food? Also, Marcel has hair like a fleur-de-lis - it's certainly a look, but give that boy a hairnet. However, boy with emo glasses, Ilan? Way cute!

on 2006-10-19 03:17 am (UTC)I really loved the overall look of both Uli & Jeffrey's collections. There were a couple of pieces from both that I liked less, and I do get a little... squirmy and twitchy and think, ah, yes, but would my ASS fit into it? ;)
And, Michael? I think he's going to be awesome. He's just trying to figure out who he is, still.
I think Laura's stuff is amazing and so well crafted, omg. But, yeah, I wanted more variety.

on 2006-10-19 03:24 am (UTC)Lost is...Lost. It's almost like a soap now. I did enjoy tonight's episode. It explained some things I'd been wondering about Locke. Like maybe how he got paralyzed and got that scar. I'm assuming the whole guns and marijuana set up turned into a Waco scenario and Locke got shot. Or maybe he sided with the cops and the clan turned on him. It was nice to see Boone too. It looks like he dyed his hair or something.

on 2006-10-19 04:12 am (UTC)I'm thrilled Jeffrey won, too. I liked his collection the best, although I will say that I liked Uli's a lot more on the runway than I did in the still photos.
And Top Chef? Marcel might as well hang a sign around his neck that reads "Stephen 2.0". And I am SO SICK of contestants coming on reality shows being all "I'm not here to make friends, I'm here to win this competition." You can do that without being a JACKASS, yo. Chloe Dao and Harold Dieterle both proved that. In fact, on Top Chef, being a jackass actually HURT Tiffani in the end.
Ilan looks exactly like Ted Allen from Queer Eye. That is all.

on 2006-10-19 04:14 am (UTC)No shit. I didn't even watch it tonight. It's gotten so bad, even Naveen isn't enough to make me watch it anymore.

on 2006-10-19 05:09 am (UTC)Dh bought those emo glasses for himself a couple months ago. Very cute!
Marisa on Top Chef looks like Star from S1 of Project Runway. I can tell she thinks she's really hot (why else would someone bring a BUSTIER to Top Chef?), but I feel like saying she looks a lot like Olive Oyl. So far, I like Betty.

on 2006-10-19 12:11 pm (UTC)Michael's was all very samey, I thought. On three of the outfits it was basically the same design with varying lengths. Laura's clothes are all very beautiful and well-constructed but she lacks range.
Jeffrey and Uli both had interesting designs (though Uli totally overused that peeping keyhole neckline thing), but I thought Uli's seemed more likely to actually be wearable, so I was hoping she would win. Although, to be honest, I've never thought that high fashion was really designed to be worn by your average woman anyway.
And as for Lost, I'm starting to kind of feel the same way. Third season in to this, shouldn't we have more concrete answers by now? At least we got to see Boone again and nearly naked!Desmond.

on 2006-10-19 06:53 pm (UTC)I thought Uli's was fabulous but, mmyeah... I have boobs too and if I can't wear a bra with it, those funky bone closures would be resting somewhere round my navel.
Laura's was typical Laura and after seeing the 'Tim goes to check on the designers in their houses' episode, I didn't want the rich Manhattan architect whose apartment prolly costs more than the combined total of what I'll make for income for the REST OF MY LIFE to win $100K to start her own line. Her comment about how she's never had the money to do fashion before? I say sell your apartment for the 3 million it's prolly worth, buy a house in the suburbs, invest a fifth of what you make on the house for your kids' college tuition, and pump the 2 million that's left into starting your own line. (whew... I got a lot more animosity toward Laura than I thought)
Michael's.... awww. *pets him* I expected a lot more from him but like he said, he's young and is still learning.
(I haven't watched Top Chef yet, it's waiting on Tivo. Randomly, I'm owning the Top Chef request at
