wordplaySo, I have this awesome green coat, and there's a photo of it here.
I LOVE this coat, and I HATE its buttons. And it has ***14*** of these hated buttons (6 on placket, 2 on pockets, 4 on cuffs, 2 on belt), plus an extra in case you didn't hate them enough. I think a large part of my issue is that the buttons are gold, which I generally tend to read as tacky and gaudy.
So, questions I have for you:
(1) Am I alone in thinking that silver/nickel finishes are just generally less gaudy and tacky than gold ones? I have no idea why I think that; part is because silver just looks better on me, and I think part is because I DEFINITELY have that strong preference and feeling for things like housewares, but I don't know how it translates to buttons.
(2) What do you think about silver buttons for this thing? Other ideas?
(3) How much am I going to hate my life after replacing 14 buttons? Will I even still want to wear this coat?
(4) This coat is made by, of all people, Le Tigre, which makes me feel like it's 1987. I didn't even know they were still in business. Is there anywhere in the world where Le Tigre is remotely still fashionable? I love this coat and don't really care, but the cognitive dissonance is large.
