Done! The horrible presentation is done! There were questions I couldn't answer, but mostly because the topic is so new and the data is all over the place and the original researchers are mostly at the "huh, yeah, we don't know. But isn't the data interesting?!" phase. I think I might have looked a bit stupid, but I really don't care overmuch. Because, did I mention, DONE!!!

And now I just have to write a paper about it, but that's not due for another three weeks, so there'll be some time before I start whining to LJ about it. Thank you for your patience. ♥

And presale seats for the Decemberists with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra went up today, and Marc ruled enough to get some for us. Row A yay!

I saw this over at [livejournal.com profile] muffinbutt and just couldn't resist.

It goes without saying at one point or another we have suddenly observed that a person on our friends list oddly behaves, speaks, and acts like a character from a fandom in which we participate. It dawns on us that they are, for want of a better word, a near replica of that very character and we never lose that idea of them, as that certain person. So, if you've hesitated to admit to someone that you've regarded them as a particular character, out of the fear of looking like a lifeless loser who rarely escapes from the house, here's your opporunity to finally acknowledge it. Simply leave a comment with your username and link to it from your LiveJournal; then your friends - or random people, even - will reply to it saying which fandom character they feel you are most like. Who knows? There may be a consistent agreement among your friends list that you suffer from OCD as severe as Argus Filch.

I am here.

To be clear - this has never, ever happened to me, where someone was SO OBVIOUSLY whatever character in my head. I mean, I guess I can see how it could? But that's why I wanted to do this, even though most of you know how I feel about anonymous memes, because obviously this is something that happens to people; I can tell because there are now 27 pages of comments. Have you ever had that moment about somebody?

And omg be nice!

[livejournal.com profile] ellen_fremedon and I have been talking for a while about putting together a large DC "Deathly Hallows" book release party, and it's time to start properly planning that. This will be a welcome-all-comers kind of thing, meant to bring all parts of the local Potter fandom together to celebrate the release of the last book.

So! By 'party' we really mean 'drinks!' and the idea is to find somewhere to get together earlier in the evening and then finish up with the book portion of the evening at Politics and Prose. In order to begin the planning, we ask you to use this post to do two things:

(1) Have an idea of where we should have drinks that's close to P&P? Leave it here.

(2) And if you think you'll want to join us, let me know here. You're not committing to anything too firmly; we just need to begin to get some sense of numbers before we can move forward.

Have something else to add? Please do so! Have any brilliant ideas? Leave them!

Yay Harry!
